Hello, my name Is Mr. R. Massenburg.
I am the Owner, CEO, Creator A&R Executive and an established BMI Songwriter.

My journey began as a young aspiring artist just as most of you. Born and raised in the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago. I came from a family of very talented Musician’s and builders, which includes, Machel Montano, the biggest Soca artist of all time. I had great expectation for myself, and have worked very hard to get to where I wanted to be as an artist. Along this tedious road, I’ve came across many obstacles.
Some were easy to deal with, and then on other occasions, there were very discouraging times. At times I felt like giving up, well to be honest, I felt like giving up most of the time, but my determination and competitive nature prevented me from doing so.

Staying focus and being consistent paid off for me, at a time where most struggling artist were still being turned away, and some of them; well….. they just simply gave up.
I was offered my first recording contract at the age of 17, along with two of my younger brothers. At the time, we were the group “Black Ambition”. We were very excited about getting a record deal, and immediately we started making plans about our future endeavors. However, being the thinker that I am by nature, I decided that I wanted to know more about the Music Industry. This opportunity did not present itself in my country of origin, so I decided to venture out to the United States, where almost every opportunity to expand my knowledge, was at my finger tips. I soon connected to another cousin of mine who managed a Major artist at Universal/ Motown records. I explained to him what my intentions were, and he obliged to assist me. Working with him allowed me to meet with most of the executives at the Major record labels and other entertainment companies. I soon found myself wanting to know even more. I wanted to know about how an artist gets chosen, and why some of them do not. Well, to my surprise, I was amazed of how much politics were involved in choosing an artist. I’ve seen so many artists get turned away from obtaining a record deal. Not for being incapable, but for not having the right connections, or not knowing the right person at that label. This has been the case for years. I became an A&R, and had the opportunity to have worked with some of the top recording artist to date. I took advice from artist as well as executives like Max Siegel, Michael Bivins, Chico Debarge, El debarge, Matthew Knowles, Micha Stampley, Kedar Massenburg, Joe, Erykah Badu, and many more. I then felt like something was needed to be put into place for the unsigned, so they can have a fair chance of being seen and heard without interruption. This is why I’ve created ituneyouin.com.
